Metal Ratios Analysis

Understanding these ratios helps you identify value opportunities and optimal entry points

Gold-to-Silver Ratio

49.33

Current ratio: How many ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold.

Why This Matters:
Historically, this ratio averages around 60-70. When the ratio is above 80, silver is considered relatively cheap compared to gold - a potential buying opportunity for silver. When below 40, gold may be undervalued relative to silver. Use this to time your metal allocation and rebalancing decisions.

Silver-to-Gold Ratio

0.0203

Inverse ratio: How much of an ounce of gold one ounce of silver will buy.

Why This Matters:
This is simply the inverse of the Gold-to-Silver ratio, providing an alternative perspective. Some investors prefer to think in terms of silver's purchasing power for gold. A higher number means silver is gaining strength relative to gold.

Gold-to-DOW Ratio

11.25

How many ounces of gold equal the DOW Jones Industrial Average.

Why This Matters:
This ratio measures gold's value relative to stocks. Historical average is around 15-20. When the ratio is above 25, gold is expensive relative to stocks. When below 10, gold may be undervalued. This helps you decide between precious metals and stock market investments during different economic cycles.
